Type 5280D is a gas lubricated fully contacting design that uses a specially developed carbon allowing operation on a dry nitrogen sealant without a humidifier.
Furthermore, the carbon is conform to FDA an exhibits an extremely low wear rate under dry nitrogen which enables the use of this seal in pharmaceutical applications.
The contacting operation reduces the sealant gas consumption to almost zero compared to non-contacting designs.
