John Crane 2609 - Dual Cartridge Version of 609 High Temperature Metal Bellows Seal The 2609 is an API 682 tested Cartridge for High Temperature applications or where the performance of bellows seals are required.
The inboard seal is designed to run with either ID or OD pressure but in the case of the 2609 the barrier remains unpressurised. The out board seal is balanced for OD pressure only and has a pumping scroll incorporated in the drive collar to provide circulation of the barrier fluid.  To comply with the requirements of API 682 pumping scrolls can be incorporated on the inboard seal to accommodate plan 23 cooling of the product and occasionally connections and throttle bushing may be applied to the outboard seal to allow the use of a steam quench.
